One of the reasons SAVe is so proud to partner with Sony is that the global electronics leader leverages its formidable technological capabilities to create products that are just as impressive in terms of sustainability as they are from a performance perspective.
Case in point: The new Pro BRAVIA series BZ-P displays. You can read all about them in Sony’s newly published whitepaper. But here are a few highlights:
- The new BRAVIA Professional Displays BZ-P series represents the company’s biggest evolutionary step forward in sustainability in its history, while also advancing performance to new heights.
- Besides their industry-leading picture quality, the benefits to customers are twofold. First, you get the peace of mind that comes from buying a product that’s simply easier on the environment – a product that costs less to operate, lasts longer, is easier to reuse (with greater trade-in viability) and easier to recycle and dispose of responsibly. Second, all those attributes go directly to your bottom line by reducing Total Cost of Ownership. After all, products that conserve energy cost less to operate while helping to preserve our precious natural resources. Likewise, their impressive longevity improves ROI while reducing electronic waste.
- One of the things we’re most impressed by is the BZ-P line’s use of SORPLAS™, a proprietary plastic that performs impeccably while minimizing environmental impact. Not only is it made chiefly from recycled plastic, including used water bottles and waste optical disks collected from factories and markets, SORPLAS can be produced with less harm to the environment, and it lasts and lasts.
- Every aspect of the BRAVIA professional displays BZ-P series is designed to reduce energy consumption. That includes its Deep Black Non-Glare (DBNG) technology, the built-in ECO Dashboard and ambient light sensors, the line’s power efficient signal processing, the series’ newly engineered thermal conduit system, and much more.
- Sony even reengineered the product packaging to provide better-than-ever protection during transit with fewer-than-ever nonrecyclable resources. What’s more, the packaging takes up less space, which makes transportation more energy efficient.
Sony displays have always had a reputation for best-in-class image quality and durability. Now it very well might be the world leader in a wide range of sustainability metrics.
The white paper goes into a fair amount of detail about Sony’s corporate commitment to sustainability, including its Green Management 2030 initiative, which is part of the company’s Road to Zero environmental plan. But there’s much more to Sony’s sustainability story. We encourage you to learn more about it on the Sony website.
Bottom line: If we’re going to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, we ALL need to step up, and in many ways, Sony exemplifies the required commitment.
And one more thing: Sony isn’t just a SAVe sponsor. It’s a charter member of our Sustainable Manufacturers Council, which opens a multitude of new avenues for our industry leaders to do their part to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
